Instantly's search strategy is a big, frequently refreshed blog plus a prompt library and education hub, sitting on top of a brand that mostly brings people in directly. Its machine-readable layer (llms.txt, pricing.md, Mintlify docs with an MCP section) is the most complete of the volume sequencers. Its weakest spot is the comparison and review searches that buyers run just before they switch tools.
Footprint
From the crawler run on 5 October 2026 (research/seo-data/instantly.ai.json). The marketing site is Webflow and the blog is Ghost 6.68, mounted at /blog/.
| Section | URLs | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| /blog/ | 1,401 | Guides, listicles, "vs" and "alternatives" posts |
| /prompt/ | 329 | One page per AI prompt for SuperSearch and Copilot |
| /experts/ | 51 | Agency partner profiles with booking links |
| /academy/ + /courses/ + lectures | ~110 | Webinars, deliverability and infrastructure courses |
| /marketplace/ | 39 | Integration pages (Apollo, Bright Data, BetterContact…) |
| /case-study/ | 5 | Customer stories |
| Total | 1,977 | No locale prefixes in the sitemap |
Counting slugs in the blog sitemap gives 83 "-vs-" posts, 30 "alternatives" posts, 59 "best/top" listicles and 58 template posts. The lastmod dates come in bursts: 331 URLs in December 2025, 819 in July 2026 and 501 in September 2026. That points to bulk refreshes, not steady publishing. A sampled comparison, Lemlist vs Instantly, runs about 2,150 words with BlogPosting and FAQPage markup and an "Updated" stamp. That is competent, standard SaaS content.
What ranks
Most of Instantly's demand is brand demand. Similarweb's free estimate shows about 2.2M visits with 78% direct (third-party panel estimate, August 2026 snapshot). Its top organic keywords are "instantly pricing", "instantly mcp", "instantly.ai", "instantly ai" and "instantly".
Spot checks with our search tool (not Google, so positions are only indicative, October 2026):
| Query | Instantly page? | Who shows instead |
|---|---|---|
| best cold email software 2026 | Yes, #3 (a freelancer listicle) | lemlist's versus page, a Salesforge German blog post, Hunter |
| instantly alternatives | No | AlternativeTo, aiapps, toolchase |
| instantly.ai review | No | JoinSecret, Trustpilot, G2 compare pages |
| smartlead vs instantly | No | Woodpecker, Reply.io, Snov.io, InboxAlly, Clay community |
Instantly writes "-vs-" posts about everyone else but does not rank for the comparison buyers run about Instantly itself. Rivals' content teams own that query (see Comparison and alternatives pages).
Programmatic and template plays
- Prompt library (329 pages). Each prompt page has an H1, a one-line description, related videos and "Recommended Prompts". The pages are thin individually but well linked internally, and they target "AI prompt for X" long tail that ties back to Copilot (Glossaries, template and prompt libraries).
- Experts directory (51 pages). Agency profiles with services, bio, website and a Calendly link (example). Each one gives an agency a reason to link back to its profile. This is a link-earning play more than a ranking play.
- Courses and lectures. Numbered "infrastructure-lecture-1…6" style series turn webinars into indexable pages.
- Locale pages were pulled. Search still surfaces
instantly.ai/de/partnerand/it/affiliato, but the German URL now returns 404, and the sitemap carries no language prefixes.
AEO posture
- llms.txt, 48 KB. It reads like a company dossier: the legal entity (Foo Monk LLC, Wyoming, with an OpenCorporates link), the origin story, 11 products, detailed pricing, integrations, use cases and a list of "vs" links. It is the longest marketing llms.txt among the volume tools.
- pricing.md, 4.7 KB. A markdown price sheet with an HTML comment telling staff to "keep this page synchronized". Outreach Growth is $47/mo for 5,000 emails and Hypergrowth $97 for 125,000, as of October 2026.
- Developer docs. developer.instantly.ai/llms.txt (66 KB) and llms-full.txt (160 KB) are generated by Mintlify. They include an MCP introduction, quickstart and tool list. The help centre has its own 45 KB llms.txt.
- robots.txt names no AI bot, so every crawler falls under
Allow: /.
The marketing llms.txt does not mention MCP once, yet "instantly mcp" is one of the domain's top organic keywords on Similarweb. An agent that reads only the root file never learns the MCP server exists (llms.txt, pricing.md and AI crawlers).
Subdomains
The certificate logs list 47 names, and 26 answered live. The public-facing ones are help (help centre), developer (Mintlify API docs), mcp (returns 401, so it is a live authenticated endpoint), partner (Partner Portal, noindex), trust (trust centre), feedback, vip (VIP onboarding), challenge ("Instantly AI Builder Challenge") and train (internal knowledge base, noindex). Everything else is API and CDN plumbing. Content stays on the main domain and the subdomains serve product and support, which is the pattern Subdomain strategy recommends.
Off-site
- Affiliates. The affiliate page offers "30% recurring commissions". An older blog post says "up to 40%". Recurring affiliate money is why "best cold email software" listicles across the web lean Instantly (Affiliate and review-site SEO).
- Community. The "Cold Email Masterclass" Facebook group had "over 50,000 members" according to a secondary, undated source. A Slack community, a "Daily Live Show" and an "Instantly Creators" programme are linked from the nav.
- Review sites. Instantly is listed on G2, Trustpilot and JoinSecret, and those listings outrank its own pages for "instantly.ai review".
Weak spots
- Comparison SERPs are lost. Rivals rank for "smartlead vs instantly" and "instantly alternatives".
- MCP is invisible in the root llms.txt.
- Prompt pages are thin. 329 near-template pages are a soft target if Google's scaled-content rules tighten further (Programmatic SEO).
- No localisation. The locale experiment was pulled, which leaves German, French and Spanish queries to La Growth Machine, lemlist and Salesforge.
- Burst refreshes. Rewriting hundreds of
lastmoddates in one month without substantive change is a pattern search engines discount.
What this means for an entrant
- Do not fight Instantly on brand or volume of posts. It has 1,400 posts and a large community. Win the queries it loses: neutral "X vs Y" and "X review" pages backed by real data (Comparison and alternatives pages).
- Copy the AEO kit on day one. Ship llms.txt, pricing.md and Mintlify-style docs with llms-full, and mention your MCP or agent API in the root file.
- Use localisation as a wedge. An EU-native tool can go after the German and French cold-email queries Instantly walked away from (EU-native compliant outbound).
- Build an experts directory early. Agency profile pages earn backlinks and double as the partner channel for a reply desk sold to agencies (The reply desk).
